Kids not only learn from us we also learn from them.
They always remind me of what purity of being is; without judgement, discrimination, bad faith.
I am blessed to not only have my own kids to learn from but also be involved periodically with other kids to keep me in check.
Here is to adult-kids interaction; may there be more!
Today someone offered a thank you to me for giving him an opportunity.
While I value his appreciation, at the same time felt that I didn’t really do anything special because he deserved the opportunity given to him.
This got me thinking that at the core of opportunity; the source of an opportunity, is not someone else but us. We created the opportunity. It has nothing to do with someone else. The other person is merely responding to that creation. This is because an opportunity is given based on how a person shows up; dependent on the person the opportunity is being offered.
There goes luck 🙂
This context statement alone is enough to change the course of a conversation from being an argument to one of mutual respect and understanding.
It reminds me of an exercise that we do in our training called “Point of view”. Note that it is not titled “My Point of View” since putting a my in it collapses the context of it being just a point of view that I might even change once I hear another point of view.
This context of agreeing to disagree bring along with it a context of compassion, empathy, respect and growth. It allow a space of listening intently and openness. There is no force or repression and a very good environment to foster trust and understanding.
Let us now be in our listening intently mode and marvel at what can come out of it.
The ever debatable concept: Born vs Made.
Bukan sahaja dalam leadership malah dalam banyak perkara seperti profiling juga.
Pandangan saya: Leadership is 100% made never born because kalau ada sedikit pun element being born, as trainers we will say that not everyone can be a leader.
In that case, not everyone is empowered to be who they want to be.
“Be miserable or motivated. The choice is yours!”
Anyone who is a lover of beriyani or is familiar with Taman Tun will know this restaurant called Ismail. So swear that they serve the best beriyani in town.
However, besides its speciality, Ismail has another unique feature while I find most appealing. It doesn’t only serve arguable the best beriyani in town, it also serves a daily dose of motivational quotes and saying on its whiteboard. They have been doing this since as long as beriyani is served there.
Imagine a restauranteur that feed not only the body but also the mind & soul!
Go to Ismail, get a portion of their friend chicken beriyani and a dose of motivation.
Which one comes 1st? Which one produces what?
Does CREATION produces EXCITEMENT or does EXCITEMENT produces CREATION?
An question worth asking 🙂
